down home cookin'

actually my mom isn't really cooking much at all. as a registered nurse, she has a very busy schedule and mostly takes out or microwaves now that i've moved and my brother is usually working in the evening. but that doesn't mean fast food in our house. i got to try this satisfying korean dish for the first time, literally called squash-rice, it's sweet wild rice with beans baked inside kombucha squash. we bought a quarter of a squash for less than $2 at a korean market in garden grove. oh, how i love those markets...

another cheap and fast food is dotori muk. acorn jelly with stuff mixed in. the sauce is simply soya, sesame oil, minced garlic, spring onion, and of course sesame seeds. one of my favourite banchans of course expands to become my main dish.

i still can't believe i used to avoid korean food just a few years ago. tonight i hope we have some kimchi chigae or soondubu to heat up this windy day. (:

I am a soon to be love immigrant to Denmark ( The visa gods willing). Have been lurking around your blog for a while. I am here at http://www.shetalkslikejune.wordpress.com and hope to write more about just how much Danes love their candles.

@josh: eek, you're totally right. i've been seeing too many kombucha 'health products' in my parents' fridge and got confused. @_@;
